Giving Back

When I decided to take the next step and turn my hobby into a business, I knew that giving back would be a priority. Since I was already funding micro loans with Kiva, it seemed like the perfect choice. I look forward to making a bigger impact with every piece of artwork that sells. To date, I have made loans to individuals/businesses in 43 of the 76 countries/territories that Kiva operates in. With your help, I hope to reach all 76!

Why Kiva

More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can’t access the financial services they need. Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005. Their mission is to provide financial access to help underserved communities thrive.

They do this through crowdfunding and addressing underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care.

With Kiva, a loan as small as $25 can make a big impact in someone’s life!

Lending Stats

  • LD Art Designs has provided loans to 62/70 available countries and territories

  • Loans made in 14/15 sectors

  • 246 loans made to date

  • 64 loans repaid

  • 84 loans are currently paying back

Stats as of 07/03/24

As loans are repaid, I allow the funds to accumulate until they reach $25 or more. Then I get the fun of selecting a new loan recipient to put the money to work again. It’s a beautiful cycle of people helping people.

My art journey started with creating art to donate to various charities, usually as a silent auction item. This is still one of my favorite ways to give back. Below is some of the art that has helped fund organizations with a cause.

“One Of a Kind”

This painting was donated to the Flower Fest 2024 and became part of a raffle promotion to raise funds for St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Can’t wait for next year!!!

Original abstract floral by Baton Rouge Artist Lori Demand. Donated to a silent auction benefiting St. Judes Childrens Hospital

“Feel the Love”

One of my favorite organizations to donate my to is Hands Producing Hope. I had SO much fun at the gala this year and had the pleasure of meeting some of the women that benefit from the initiatives offered by HPH. Some of the efforts of HPH include Fair Trade Artisan Work, Adult Literacy School, Maternal Health Education, and Life Skills Classes. Most of their reach is to families in the regions of Rwanda, Costa Rica, and refugee women in the Baton Rouge area.

And…More than 1 individual fell for “Feel the Love” so some $$$ was raised for a great cause.

“Peaceful Petals”

Peaceful Petals helped raise funds to enable school aged children to exposed to the Manners of the Heart Program. The program strengthens morals, improves emotional wellness and increases respectfulness.

“Can You Feel It”

2022 silent auction donation to the Hands Producing Hope Gala. Love supporting causes that support women.

Also happy that the painting found a new home!!!
