5 Reason You Should Create a Vision Board

The start of a new year is the perfect time to think about things we want to accomplish in the coming year for our business and for ourselves and a vision board is a great way to document everything. If you’re not familiar with vision boards, essentially it’s a collage of images, words and affirmations that represent your goals and aspirations. If you’ve never made one, you are missing out on a powerful tool that is not only extremely useful for determining and achieving goals, but it’s also an inspiring and fun filled activity. There are many benefits associated with creating a vision board and I will touch on 5 that were the most impactful to me.

  1. Clarity - The process of selecting impactful and images, quotes and text acts as a visual exercise in clarifying what is important to you.

  2. Motivation - Writing goals down is great, but when you select images that cause you to visualize your goals, it can inspire you even more to take action and do the work to achieve them. Also, when you feel like giving up, taking time to review your vision board will have a much bigger impact than reading a list.

  3. Accountability - You can use your vision board as a contract with yourself. If you place your board where you will see it everyday, you may have a desire to be accountable to yourself and what you aspire to accomplish.

  4. Stress Reduction - Creative activities stimulate the production of endorphins and dopamine in the body. When you combine the physical part of creating a board with the psychological impact of planning for future accomplishments, it’s the perfect storm for a win.

  5. It’s Fun & Uplifting - I loved searching for things that lit my fire and I feel so amazing every time I look at my board and would love for you to experience the same.

In a world filled with distractions, I have found that a vision board can be a tangible way to connect to your dreams. It’s a visual representation of what you want your future to look like and you create with your hands and heart. Just like you will do the work to create your future.
